Thankyou Martyn, Just a small update again and a few more pics, the lower shrouds are now all done apart from the lanyard knots which come later after final tensioning and when the stays are in place.

I'm pleased with this bit, looking forward to doing the same on the topmasts nextBigGrin

Well this was to be "Return of the Deadeye" but as I have already posted the mini tutorial showing Deadeye Dave Jr. in use I just thought Id show some pics of the completed topmast shrouds instead rather than repeat the tutorial -
http://forum.model-space...aspx?g=posts&t=9532

Im on issue 96 now and have only skipped 2 jobs, fitting the bowsprit and the 4 lanterns. Im holding off fitting the bowsprit until I absolutely have to as it will make spinning the model around more difficult, plus I still havent built a shelf yetAngry With the bowsprit in place the Vic will have to come off the desk.

Thanks for looking BigGrin

Thanks Alan, when I get to the ratlines I may do a little test piece to see how each looks and post on here to get some opinions on it.

BigGrin Hi Steve
Your right the knots would be out of scale but its a half way house as the majority of the blocks supplied are also out of scale or too big , so its a case of if it looks right it will be ok .
You also have the problem that during a voyage only so many spares could be carried on board so at some point a larger block would be used until the correct replacement was available.

You are right Andy, most of the blocks are overscale, especially the gun tackle blocks which are currently about the same width as the cannon barrels!
I'm thinking I will be using the DeAg suggested route of pushing the ratlines through each shroud with a needle and only using knots at each endBigGrin

Lovely work Steve and very neat.
I love your "Deadeye Dave jnr" tool. A brilliant invention on your part. I'm just about to reach the stage where it will be needed so with your permission, I'd like to make one of these little gizmo's myself, and looking at your build and tutorial, it really makes life easier there.
Good luck and happy building

Thanks for looking DavidBigGrin
Id love to see how you get on with "Deadeye Dave" Junior and Senior as you will need to make both, one at 20mm distance and one at 15mm. Just been looking through the Vic diaries...do you not have your Vic build log on here?
Cheers
Steve
