[biggrin] Hi Steve
Looking good you could of course go for this as an alternative paint idea

Hi Andy,
Thanks for looking. That kit looks amazing and I love the cammo, but - that is a MKI, identified by the tail wheel, exhaust baffles on the roof and the long barrelled 6pdr guns. This "Solomon" cammo scheme was only used on MK1 and some MKII tanks - not the MKIV sadly[angry] otherwise I think I would go for it to add some interest.

The pics in this stage show the model after 2 light coats of matt earth wash. The tracks have also been painted with track primer then a layer of pledge over the whole lot ready for the next layer of wash. I chose not to use any decals preferring to go for the painted on look of all numbering and lettering.

And...here are some more pics after a layer of burnt umber wash. Still to come are some oil washes and the exhaust corrosion, slight chipping and drybrushing[biggrin]

BTW, completely ignore the lay of the track at the moment, it will be sorted out later as it is not an even distance from the side panels all round

Thanks Trev,
Should get this finished tomorrow - it is going to be on a dio base with one other small kit that I will build soon. I will be working on this dio base and my WWII N.Africa base when the garage is a bit warmer[biggrin]

Tomorrow I will give it one more layer of clear cote after any little touch-ups needed when I look at it in daylight and then I will fix the tracks as well.

I will be adding some track grabs to this also and these will be scratch built, I need to make 13 per track. I also have a figure to paint to place in the hatch, there will be 3 other figures on the ground too.

Thanks Alan & Martyn,
Not trying to bore anyone but I'm calling this one done now, this diary will be a useful reference for me as well in case I forget what I did. I have done the final grime layer with oil / thinner mix and a bit of tidying up here and there. The only things left are an unditching beam and the track grabs. There will be some mud as well but I can't add this until the dio is done.

More to come on this one prob in the summer when I have a warm garage again[biggrin]

Cheers
Steve

Just a small update here for those following[biggrin]
I have made the un-ditching beam and chain, fairly happy with the result. The guy in the hatch is, or should I say was a WW2 russian tanker, but, due to the look of the overalls he can be used as WW1 Brit[biggrin]. He would normally have had a cap on but this is going to be an "at ease" kind of dio so he could have removed it.
The tank officer is to be looking at some infantrymen recovering a piece of german hardware from a crater hole so is looking suitably relaxed[biggrin]

I need to make some track grabs next and the dio will follow from there.

Hi Stevie!

Good to see the 'Giant' back again! You were right about that Russkie, couldn't have been a better pose if you'd designed it yourself! Well done! [cool] [cool]
