To my mind, the purists of you should not be building a kit but researching the vessel yourselves and doing everything accurately. A kit being a kit has to cover all skills so give D'agostini a break and go with the flow. I'm sure they're open to suggestions for improvement and they could probably be incorporated in the build but it would almost certainly mean extra issues and cost. I for one will suck it and see as Tiswas said and if the build isn't up to the mark I won't subscribe to any other D'Agostini builds. Thats it in a nutshell, they will do their best to accommodate us in the hope we all come back for the next project. Well said!!! Currently building - HMS Victory Andria Gail 608

I'm a subscriber and don't expect to be treated an different than someone who gets their mag from the newsagents....after all we all pay the same cost of the mag...so apart from the freebies that subscribers got....i think or hope....that everything from here on in.....is available to everyone......even the mentioned "extra issues"..I'm not a fan of cricket ....but i do like to see a level playing field....imho

Old sod returning modeller, last project 30 years ago made a Napoleonic (54mm figures)Rose figures chess set.
Just a word have read forums with intrest on subjects such as copper hull or no copper hull, 100 cannons or not 100 cannons, figures or not figures.
I am certainly enjoying building the Victory although some components (pre-drilled) the bore is too tight for the copper bar, and the canonade well there are more holes in my fingers from the drill than in the copper/brass mounting, superglue to the rescue,(by way typing with toes.
Tip for those intracate small jobs "a blob of Blu-Tac stick the Blu Tac to piece wood or mat press item onto it and hey presto allows you to keep the tricky bit still, also great for sticking in bits like cannons (stick barrell end into blu tac) whilst any painting dries, same with large anchor when doing binding. Bound to come in use for other bits.
Old sod.
