Hi Norman,

Have had a look at this, checking the measurements given in PDF 24, Image 912 and by measuring the same mast section on the 1:1 diagram provided. My findings are the same as yours, the PDF should give the length of the top section of the foremast as 138mm.

If you go onto the Artesania Latina website you'll see a 'Contact Us' button on the bottom right where you can report the error yourself. It also gives them a contact email address for them to come back to you on if needed....

https://www.artesanialatina.net/en/

Thanks for highlighting this issue...

Regards

Alan

Hi Norman
I've had a look at my DVD, and at your photo depicting the problem. It would, as you say be horrendously difficult to redo all the fore-mast rigging that you've put so much effort into.
I think I may be able to offer an easy fix (please note that I'm nowhere near this stage in my build so I can't say from experience).
I would offer 2 solutions:
1) Would it be possible for you to shorten the thread that holds the fore topmast yard in place which would effectively raise the height of the yard?
2) Would it be possible to reattach the 3 blocks a little further up the mast?
And, if you aren't able to work around the problem, had you thought about displaying that particular sail as 'furled'?
Don't know if any of that helps you at all but can I just say again what a magnificent job you're doing of her. well done!
Happy building
David

Hi Norman,

You could perhaps alter the sail to make it a little shorter, don't think it would be noticeable.....

Thank you Alan for confirming the dimensions and you suggestion. I have sent details to Model-Space. Thank you David for you comments and suggestions.
I have however decided to bite the bullet and remove the existing shrouds, lengthen the mast and start again. I know that most people would not notice your suggestions but I would.
So here goes. Out with the snips and knife.

Happy to help Norman and good now its been highlighted.... This matter has been put directly under Artesania Latina’s nose. It’s not a ModeSpace matter as such as MS have no involvement in this kit. It’s a normal retail kit in the same manner that has Cornwall Model Boats and model ship retailers around the world having it on sale.

I also think you are doing exactly the same as I would do, disassemble and fit a new top section to the mast. If you left it as it is then I'm sure it would annoy you every time you looked at the finished model and wished you had put it right... Annoying yes, but you'll be far happier when you've put it right.....

Hi again Norman
I have to agree totally with Alan's comment.
I reckon I would feel exactly the same and living a workaround - however decent a job is made of it - there's nothing like getting it right, and knowing all the hard work and effort that's been put into it makes it all that much more rewarding.
Happy building

Modifications did not take as long as expected.
Top sail now looks better.
