Painted, after taking a look at the model in it's raw form I just love it, but as I have my HMS Bounty in natural I think the Victory next to it painted would be amazing. Off the Cornwall Models for me paints! Colin Colin Armed Transport Bounty (Del Prado) Right here on this forumINDEX OF TOPICSHMS Victory Amati Santa Maria (if I can sneak it in the house!)

Hi. I have purchased the first issue and have just subscribed to the series online. I think personally the only way to go with this outstanding model is with the Trafalgar colour scheme. Many thanks, Hornblower.

Good Question! although I have built most of my ships staying to a natural finish, I will however be using the Trafalgar color scheme this time, I will also be copper plating the hull for authenticity, this is easily achieved with copper strips, and a pin wheel. I would also suggest a visit to Portsmouth UK and take a camera with you, a tour of this ship is awe inspiring, and you can use the pictures you take as a guide. I am currently working on two models (am I mad?), HMS Bounty and HMS Halifax, a top sail schooner, both of which I'm leaving in natural wood, so I have decided to paint Victory in her Trafalgar Colours as my tribute to Admiral Nelson.
Regarding copper cladding for Victory, is it possible to get further details on the way this can be done?

I too will go with the Trafalgar colour scheme, I would also like to know if a hull plating set will be made available for this model.

I did read somewhere that they may be including the copper cladding for the hull, so lets hope so, but usually I buy thin copper sheets from "The RANGE" I usually do some research on the model I'm building for some details on the style of copper cladding used, then I cut the sheets into thin strips, for the next stage you will need a pin wheel, you can purchase one of these from any good model supplier like The Model dockyard of a Sewing shop, you use this to create a riveted effect on each piece, once your happy with the result you can start building up the layers starting from the keel and work upwards. Here is some information that may help http://www.oldcopper.org...%20victory%20copper.htm

You can also get 1mm thick self adhesive copper tape in all sorts of widths from about 4mm wide upwards, and comes on a roll of varying length, a trade name is Venture Tape and is used in the glazing industry, and also used in the electrical circuit board industry, and also used for dolls douse wiring, lots of it on fleebay, though I'd hang fire to see what is supplied with the kit, or you might be wasting yer hard earned money in advance.

Is it possible for anyone from de agostini to confirm what the plans are relating to copper planking being included in the kit or not? I thought i'd read they where including it as an option but confirmation would be nice.

This is from one of the other Threads, Quote No. 2... This is from admin. admin wrote:Hi Skywatcher,
Yes you can buy the kit in one go elsewhere, however the De Agostini version offers you:
1. Much more detailed, step-by-step model instructions. The instructions have been completely re-written and are in a lot more detail than the original. This is particularly useful to those modellers who are not "expert" at this level of kit. Every single stage has very detailed instructions. We have photographed every step which, for anyone who has followed full kit instructions (usually supplied as abbreviated text-only steps with minimal diagrams in up to 8 languages on a single page) is a very valuable tool for getting the best out of the kit and building the best possible version of the Victory
2. We are offering the copper plating for the hull which is not available in the base kit
3. We are offering many crew members, including the principle characters such as Nelson. We are currently planning for them to be in metal. Again, these are not available in the base kit.
4. In addition to instructions, the magazine will contain articles about Nelson, The Victory and other ships of the era. It will also have articles about model ships of this era. A good read basically!
5. You can buy it in weekly installments; you do not have to shell out for the whole lot in one go.
6. The model is supplied in parts as you need them, therefore you do not need to store the complete box of parts (which is quite sizeable and a problem for many people we have spoken to). This of course allows us to charge on a weekly basis rather than all up front.
7. By launching this and similar products it allows us to fund a comunity website such as this, which we hope to grow further. It has things like expert help if you get stuck during the build of our models (which model shops don't have). We also have an open website policy. Things do go wrong in life and we see the website as a valuable tool to sort out problems and questions from our customers when they arise (like your question here - its a good question, here is our response and now people can make an informed decision on what they want to do)
8. Overall, on the actual kit, we have modified the Artesania Kit so that buyers of the partwork have more options about the finish they want. The kit can be left unpainted to show off the natural hard- and softwood finish, it can be painted with Trafalgar colours, you can choose to add a copper bottom, there is an optional cut-away section and, finally, figures can be added to create a battle scene diorama.
