my past experience has been plastic models. SO why dive into wood modeling ?

Because Im older and wiser..I hope

I appreciate the great packing, all vacuumed in plastic & plenty of bubble wrap in the shipping box.

Everything is on the CD (different experience for me) might be visiting FedEx
I dragged and dropped all file to desk top

Double checked the parts list (better one on the CD)

SO here goes my first wood build
Build Time 30 minutes

Some of those sheets are thin
I cut 1 a&b and 2-10, keel- both sides to make sure I got all of the Tabs

3rd Photo - small parts bin - Thanks again, for the container

sanding and gluing to follow

any step I missed to get the 3rd photo to show?(now removed)
other photos come and go with edits ???

Hi Greg

Good luck with your venture into wood, I`m sure you`ll enjoy it.BigGrin

The picture issue you mention is an ongoing problem with the forum that is cured simply by refreshing the page (maybe a couple of times). Its a known issue that is being worked on.

Tip: The forum will take pictures up to 650 pixels wide, so you have scope to increase the size of your pics should you wish.

Congrats on your "Blue" medal for starting a build diary and I look forward to more of your work soon.Cool

Regards

Man almost had a great accident
Gluing number 10 with super glue. I know I placed it correctly, I must have handled the keel roughly. I happened to take another look and it had slipped out. Glue had not totally hardened, like a rookie, I started to pry, thinking I could just sand and and re glue. BUT HEY - lets push it in and hold.

LESSON 1 - One item at a time when dealing with super glue - I cant be trusted

Just for fun I placed the keel in the "Fair A Frame"....ya - not going to work

Build time
40 min

Dry fitted all before the glue fest.

Rest of the gluing went off without a hitch. I checked all the ribs for wobble. Another smaller coat is in order for some, despite the run you see in the photo.

Number 2 was flush on top of the keel, but over hangs at the bottom. Add that to the sanding joy ahead.

I decided to make the ship stand now.

The "Deck" is my first big concern. Sounds like I should glue the middle first, let dry, then Glue to the ribs.

Any advise is appreciated

Hi Greg, never good when mishaps occur but we've all experienced them at some stage in our modelling journey. Bracing you've done should be fine and will be even stronger once you get some of the planking done....Cool Cool .. Hope now your progress goes mishap free....Cool Cool
