The common factor in this is the MCU after checking all the wiring of course, this could be a quality control issues with the MCU, people seem to be getting the same problem weather they used protected or unprotected batteriesConfused if changing the MCU doesn't fix the problem the next thing is the Orange Pi microcomputer in the dome which is static sensitive and can be damaged easily, of course it may be worth mentioning there could be a dodgy cable and buzzing them out may reveal a bad one or more!!
Indeed your problem may well be the MCU as a result of installing “Protected” batteries to start with., So it seems the only way forward is to replace the MCU and go from there.

In actual fact, the biggest factor so far with most problems reported, is I correct batteries, incorrectly labelled wires, incorrectly plugged wires and plugs not properly fitted.

Yes true there is a lot crossed wires out there, however there have been reports of people having the same problem as me and they used unprotected batteries, so using protected batteries may or may not have damaged my MCU it might of been dodgy to start with but we'll never know that for sure!!!!!!!

Also ordered issue 99 as well just in case issue 94 doesn't fix the problem and everything will be double checked again...………

Don't order issue 99 yet until you checked MCU first

Ordering parts that may not be needed or just in case could deprive another builder of the part he needs to get his R2 going. Please be mindfull of this.

Hi Peter - did you get yours working yet? I replaced the board issue 99 - still doesn't work properly. Managed to get it to mostly work by manually moving the head when powered up from stop to stop but now head just slams from stop to stop at full speed on power up. Head only turns at full speed and wont centre. I suspect either a faulty MCU or bad head motor. Looks like the motor encoder isn't being read or doesn't work.

Customer service were a total waste of time! Part never arrived, ordered via newsagent and got it. Had problems with customer service before - couldn't understand the operator properly, bad line and very strong non-english accent. Non delivery despite 5 working promise is the same as what happened last time when I missed an issue. Missing issue time they took a £10 payment but NO goods... Pathetic.

Hi Steve, no i haven't got it working yet!!! as i have only just received issues 94 & 99 today about 27 days from when i requested them from C/S well it was over the Christmas period, so now i shall be working on R2 with the parts from issue 94 to start with first as i suspect it maybe a faulty MCU that's causing the problem... i hope, from what you have said it sounds like you to may have a faulty MCU as well, from what you say i don't think the head motor is at fault, and the sensors would have been check from when you assembled them on the frame, of course i assume you have checked all the wires and connections that's why i say it's most probably the MCU that's at fault and i to have some experience with C/S as you, so i know what your saying but at least i did get my parts in the end as to weather those parts have any problems only time will tell

If its not the MCU then it sounds like a faulty head motor going out of sinc and too fast for the limit switches to kick in before it hits the buffer pad. Request a replacement Head motor from C/S.

Looks like I need a new head motor now! Everything working apart from head. Waste of time ordering via C/S - twice now parts never arrive. I'll have to order via newsagent and pay for yet another magazine - really annoying having to pay for faulty parts!!!

If you need a new head motor that's issue 96, haven't been able to sort out my R2 yet!!! and if you're not a subscriber then you'll just have to preserver until it is sorted out that's the price that has to be payed.

Incorrect - if a newsagent customer, the Newsagent should be able to organise foc replacement as your contract of sale lies with the newsagent.
