The 6th June 2019 is the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings.
D-Day was the largest seaborne invasion in history. The amphibious landings were preceded by extensive aerial and naval bombardment and an airborne assault. This would be a day for brave men and a great many heroes.
D-Day 6th June 1944 Timeline
00:00 – First airborne troops land
06:20 – Allied landing craft approach the beach
06:30 – Landings start on Utah and Omaha beach
06:45 – US Rangers attack Pointe du Hoc
07:25 – British 3rd Division land on Sword beach
07:35 – British 50th Division land on Gold beach
08:00 – Canadian 3rd Division land on Juno beach
In honour of the D-Day fallen and the brave, ModelSpace is holding a D-Day 75 competition!
Build a D-Day related model or diorama - any scale/any model (one entry per member).
The Prizes:
First prize = £150 "Always Hobbies" voucher.
Runner-up = £75 voucher.
D-Day 75 - The Rules
1. Builds must not be started until on or after the 1st January 2019 and must be completed and posted into the Finished Build Gallery no later than 8am GMT on the 6th June 2019.
2. The winner and runner-up will be decided by Member vote which will be open for 2 days from 8am on the 6th June until 8am on the 8th June.
3. All entries must have an ongoing build diary posted exclusively on the ModelSpace UK forum. Entries must not be shared on another forum during or after the competition end. Failure to observe this rule will result in your entry being void and the build being excluded from the vote.
4. Your entry must be nominated as "Day Day 75 - competition entry" at the head of your build diary (not in the topic title). No build nomination = void entry!
5. Strictly one Entry per member - The competition is be open to all ModelSpace members in the following regions: Regions: United Kingdom, USA, Germany, South Africa, Netherlands, Asia, Northern Ireland, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand. - entrants must be contributors around the UK forum rather than just within their own build - No entry permitted with the sole purpose of entry only!
6. All entries should be posted into the relevant build diary area of the UK forum - Diorama/Figure builds or Aviation builds. Your Finished build must be posted into the Finished Build Gallery. Once you announce your build is complete, it must not be further enhanced at a later date.
7. All entrants are obliged to vote for one of the D-Day 75 entries (not your own) - Failure to vote will exempt your own entry.
8. If you decide not to progress with your entry or your entry becomes void, you cannot then re-enter with another build.
9. Goading of members to vote for a particular entry will not be tolerated. The comment will be removed and you may lose your chance to vote or be suspended during the vote period.
10. You can construct a D-Day Diorama - Each element of the build must be within the single build topic and related to the subject.
11. Once you have announced your entry and the build has been started, you cannot then change the subject.
12. All entries will be locked at 8am on the 6th June ahead of the vote start at 8am. Solicitation during voting will not be tolerated and Family votes are not permitted.
13. The two entries with most member votes received by 8am on the 8th June 2019 will be deemed the Winner and Runner -up - In the event of a tie, Admin will post a related tie break question.
14. Member voting should consider effort, diary presentation and overall build - not just the end result.
15. The D-Day 75 winner and runner-up will be announced on the 8th June 2019.

Dak's over Normandy event
One Douglas DC-3/C-47 Dakota flying across the Atlantic is impressive.
A dozen or more planes is nothing short of extraordinary!
The D-Day Squadron is an effort by North American based Dakota’s to attend the June 2019 Dak’s over Normandy event.
They plan to have an entire squadron of Douglas DC-3/C-47 Dakotas in attendance for what will without a doubt be a once in a lifetime and unequalled event.
