Hi there

Looking good I would like to give suggestion of a docking yard. Some one gave me the advise and I must admit it helped to keep the keel straight and is almost as if you have an extra set of hands helping you to keep the ship straight when you start the planking.

All the best

I will be doing some more to the Victory sometime soon. Weather is getting nice enough to be outside again, then I get the balsa sanded down and not worry about making a mess inside.

Hi Skyfire, I've been looking at your build and especially where you say you had a problem at the stern. From what I see you still have a problem in that area and it will become very apparent when you come to fit the gallery. It looks to me as if your rib 30 has not been fully seated into its slot and is sitting too high. Lay a plank along the deck support lugs from frame 22 to frame 30, you should find the planking strip sits on the lugs with a slight upward curve towards the stern. If it rises sharply at frame 30 then this frame will need to be reset. This has caught a lot of builders out.

Regards

Alan

I will hve to try and find her again and take a look at things. Just hope it can be fixed after all this time!

I assume rib 30 is the one right at the stern ?

If you have used PVA then shouldn't be too much of a problem to separate the parts. Use hot water and small paintbrush, apply water to the joints. This will soften the glue and after a short while you should be able to gently separate the parts. Once separated, a quick clean up of the edges may be required before reassembly. You may also need to separate parts 32, 33 and 34 as these are attached to frame 30 and are likely to be affected too. Image below shows parts being referred to...

I managed to find her and put a strip of balsa along the lugs and it looks like frame 30 is out of place. Now to work out a plan of attack to get it fixed.

Good work so far. Have you done any fairing of the bulkheads? If yes it looks like you need to do some more. If not then it should be done before you start planking.

Right now I need to fix frame 30 > fairing of the hull > planking. Oh and I need to make space for working on her as well, since I am building R2D2 and the HMS Sovereign of the Seas. Going to be awhile before I get round to planking the hull.

I have a feeling frame 30 itself is not actually glued in because it was such a tight fit in the hole, which is very probaly why it is not in the right place.
