Thanks for the comment guys, appreciated....

The main pieces of etch have now been fitted to the port side of the lower aft superstructure. The port side of the ship will be my practice side with the starboard side being the side on display. My thinking is by doing the port side first it will enable me to identify any tricky areas, working on best way to get round them, then applying my new found knowledge to the display side of the ship....BigGrin BigGrin .. Now to see if my theory works by getting on and fitting the etch to the starboard side.... Will post up when done.....Cool Cool

Regards

Alan

Awesome work Alan. Your doing great with the PE. The detail it adds is amazing. Look forward to more updates.

Alan

That looks like a test both patience and a very steady hand.

All looks very nicely put together.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments, appreciated as always.....Cool Cool

@Tony - Patience is something I do have in abundance but I certainly do not have a steady hand, quite the opposite in fact. I actually suffer from a Benign Essential Tremor where the symptoms are very similar to that of parkinsons. Its the reason I've given up on period ships, have great difficulty in doing the rigging now... Just one of the things we have to overcome as we get older.....Laugh Laugh Laugh ... I won't give up my hobby though....

@Roy - I actually wear a pair of glasses issued to me by my optician for doing real close up work. Told my optician what I did for my hobby and rather than a second pair of varifocals he suggested a set purely for close up model work.... Works a treat for me..... when wearing them, if I look up then everything is just a blur....Laugh Laugh Laugh

Alan

Thanks Phil, undecided as yet. Only thing I'm sure of is it will be late May 1941, 24th or 27th. Long time to go before I get to the stage where I really have to make the decision.....Cool Cool

All of the basic etch has now been fitted to the starboard side of the aft superstructure. I've deliberately left off one piece from either side for now, mainly because I think I've knocked the pieces off about 6 times so far.....Laugh Laugh. There is still a few pieces of etch to make up and fit, such as fire hose cradles, plus I now need to double check the kit instructions to fit a number of plastic pieces. Once that's done it can be set aside ready for priming.....Cool Cool Cool

Wow! My eyes hurt just thinking about placing that!

Zero paints, available through Hiroboy, over there, has a fantastic, airbrushable two part primer that would really help stick all that down.

Alan many thanks for your kind words.

I did try and reply earlier but your inbox was reporting full.

Its a funny old life when one day everything is ticking along just fine and in the blink if an eye can change so much.

When you have spent so many years “doing for others” i seem to have forgotten that i need to do things for me and its that adjustment i just cannot get myself into at the moment.

Kind regards

Tony

That looks to be an awesome etched update set you have.

I have never seen such a wealth of parts in an etch kit before.

You certainly have a lot of patience working with so many small parts.
