According to the building guide, painting the hull is a job to be done very near the end of the whole build.
Maybe needless to say but this ship is big and therefore not easy to handle. That will make painting of the near-finished ship
probably more difficult. This is why I decided to put at least the first layers of paint on, right now. When the ship nears
the end of construction I will check the paintjob again, and possibly add a protection layer (varnish?).

Time for an update on this build.
First a few pictures off the (partial) second planking layer and the construction of the rudder.

It looks fantastic, i would have trouble moving this around and i can stand up properly, well done.

Hello Willy
I have been greatly enjoying your build via comment and photos. Thank youfor taking the time to share with us your experiences. Much appreciated. Yours is not the only Model I have seen with erroneous porthole rims!
Any how I wonder if you be kind enough to tell me where from you purchased your kit and what the cost is in the Netherlands. I plan this to be my next build when i have completed my KGS Komet (1911) 5ft model.

In summertime I 'm slowing down on model building, but I will soon be around again . BigGrin
Currently building the upper decks, actually not really a lot to show right now.
For Stuart T > This model is rather expensive in Belgium or Holland. Normally around 900 tot 950 euro's.
Because I need the retailer-shops for all kinds of little things (planks, paints, ...) I usually do buy
my model in these shops. So I did pay the 900 euro's even though I might have found it somewhat cheaper
elsewhere ;-)

What an awesome model. You are very lucky to have such a big working space for this one.

A very nice finish you have on this one as well.

Not sure if anyone saw it but there was a program on TV last night about the sinking and the events leading up to the disaster.

It's been on before but still interesting to watch

So, time to start building the upperstructures. Many, many, many walls to be painted and equipped
with the metal window/door structures (who are to be painted brown) Actually a job that will not be all that visible
once the ship will be finished.

The window detail does look really good !! Are you planking this first deck now or later?
