Hi Tony,

Thanks for that, have your subscription problems been resolved yet?

May sadly not so in the end i had no option but to cancel this one.

I had just about all of the chaps on here trying to get it sorted for me. So mine is cancelled with £1.99 credit sat against the account (which i am not bothered about chasing).

Will watch with interest all of the other builds taking shape though.

Happy Modelling

Hi Tony,

That's such a shame, I know how much you were looking forward to building it, on the brightside you have the start of the "old ironsides" build to look forward to next week.

Hi May

You're build's coming along a treat.
Very nicely done!

Regarding your comments over the seat stitching I wondered whether SPAL had pushed the seat cushion all the way into the base on his pic. It's hard to tell but it looks a bit raised and you can't see as much of the seat back height as I would have thought.

It doesn't help that the horizontal line on the seat back gives less than half a semicircle.

Attached is a picture of mine for comparison.

Curly.

Hi Curly

Thank you for your kind words and advise,

I've had another play with it last night and got it to line up a bit better, I think you just have to persuade the leather a bit so it forms in roughly the right place - well it worked for me anyway

Thanks again

May.

Hi Curly, I can confirm that my cushion is firmly into the base.

The spokes are a bit tricky, and I abandoned the double sided tape idea in favour of glue. I positioned each spoke one at a time and used a cocktail stick to apply a small dab of glue. I first checked that any excess glue would be covered by the wheel rim. Once the first row were fixed the wheel became more rigid and the work progressed faster. After the first one I'm sure the other wheels will be easier.
I too am a novice at 71. I'm sure we will all help each other.

Hi JG,

That's how I ended up doing them as well, the tape just didn't work for me either so I used glue which made things a whole lot easier. It was certainly a struggle at times but now the first one is done I/we know what to expect next time..... well in theory anyway BigGrin

BTW welcome to the forum,

May.

I have been looking at photos of original E-type engines, and have decided to paint the block black as suggested. The dashpot dampers (The top of the suction chambers) on most S.U. carbs I have worked on were black, but from the photos I have seen early E-types were brass. The model as supplied are gold which I will leave alone. I will however highlight the brass unions on the fuel pipes.

Hi JG,

I opted against painting the Block as being my first build I didn't want to mess anything up. It'll be good to see a photo of your work when you've finished painting it, I haven't seen one painted up yet.

May.
